At Joel D. Kerr Funeral Services, we offer those with religious faith a religious funeral. However, there are many people for whom religion is unimportant, or have decided to live their lives without it. For such people a religious funeral may seem inappropriate.

A humanist funeral ceremony offers a dignified alternative to the traditional funeral service. It acknowledges loss and celebrates life without employing religious rituals. Tailored to the wishes of the family, it aims to reflect their feelings for the person who has died.

A typical humanist funeral ceremony will consist of entry music, words of welcome, reflections on life and death, a tribute to the deceased, a period of private reflection, the committal, conclusion and closing music.

Private Chapels of Rest

There are Chapels of Rest at all of our premises (Hartlepool, Middlesbrough and Stockton). All chapels feature modern facilities and private visitation areas. Vists may be made during normal working hours. Some notice of your vist is appreciated. This will enable us to make any necessary arrangements and avoid any delays once you arrive.
